I have stopped buying Vera Bradley quite a while ago because I am now a Madison Handbag girl! They are fabulous bags that are also made in the USA, with 2 factories in upstate New York. MHB are customized bags sold at parties, much like Tupperware or Pampered Chef parties, but with Madison Hand Bags, you design your own bags using combinations of over 70 fabrics, linings, and hardware. I have also found they are much more durable than even my much older Vera Bradley bags. What's better than a bag you design yourself that is also made in the USA! :-)

I have been a longtime customer of VB, almost 15 years. I have just recently realized that these bags are being manufactured in China. This explains the poor quality of a bag that I recently purchased and eventually returned. I actually own many bags and I can definitely feel and see the difference between older bags versus newer. I have 4 daughters and we have all spent good money on VB. Unfortunately, I believe that our last purchases have been made. The price of these bags warrants being made in the USA, not in China by overworked and underpaid people. My most recent purchase also had cardboard on the bottom of it and it was bent! What a shame....

I live in Fort Wayne, IN and yes not all VB is made in FW. They are building more facilities to bring some things back to FW. What I have to laugh at is the State of IN was going to make one of the owners the head of the Commerce for the State (they are in charge of bringing jobs to IN) but they ship there own products to China.

I was on vacation in South Haven, MI and a store there was advertising Made in the USA, I took one of the clerks over to the huge display of VB and asked her if she new that the products they were advertising Made in the USA was probably made in China, she all but called me a liar so I opened ten bags and they were all made in China.

VB does not hire all of there employees as VB employees most are from a temp agency, some get hired after 90 days with that being said they are not paying benefits to alot of there employees. Manpower is the employment agency if you want to check this statement out.

If Vera Bradley does such a wonderful things for the cancer society then why is it that her workers work hard and long hours for low wages.. if anyone can live on $10.00 - $13.00 an hour and still pay all their bills I like to know how they do it.. Sorry but i think most of the work places use the workers like paper towels, "you sick your out" I would NEVER buy anything from a company that brings in China bags. If Vera Bradley advertise a sale they should also tell in the add that some made in China .. lets be fair to the consumer..

Thanks for the info! I just checked my Vera articles and out of 15 found 2 small pieces made in USA! I knew they had factories in Indiana so thougt they were all made there! My fault for not checking!!! They just lost a Great customer!!! I do like the bags and accessories I have but can tell the difference! I have given many gifts of Vera and am now extremely upset that I gave things made in China when they could have been made here in the Wonderful USA where we Need Jobs!!!!!

Ok I bought a beautiful vera bradley cupcakes in pink off ebay....got it looked great. But the more I looked at it and felt the fabric it just felt cheap. so I looked at the back of the tag and it said made in china. I thought oh I bought a fake great. so I went and looked at the one I bought in the usa years ago and it said on the tag made in the usa. Clearly this bag was made better and I know will hold up better. Fake or not china...the vera bradley bag I bought looks pretty but when you get it in your hands its much cheaper made. Im a USA GIRL and I beleive we have enough people in the USA that could use these jobs to keep Vera Bradley in business and the high demands of orders....but we keep shipping everything over to china because they can make it faster and cheaper.... I mean come on my vera bradley bag had cardboard in the bottom of the one made in china.... I will not by another made in China Vera Bradley....

Several yrs ago, there were 2 gentlemen making the purses for Vera. They secured million dollar loans in order to expand, with the Vera company aiding them in securing such loans. Then Vera moved her major production to china instead, leaving the gentlemen high and dry on the factories and loans they had secured and built for Vera....they then sued Vera Bradley. Research it on the internet, you will see how wonderful the Vera company cared about their Indiana workers...old purses have the old USA tags, new ones are China.

I will NOT buy any VB bags not made in USA. I am already paying a ton of $$ for a simple cotton bag, I fully support bags made in US.

I haven't bought any Vera Bradley unless it says made in the USA. We need to keep our economy in the upward motion. By sending overseas more of our people stay unemployed. There are enough empty buildings in the US that could very well have sustained a manufacturing facility for Vera Bradley without having to build another facility or outsource. People who are willing to work are also willing to learn a new trade. I have been trying very hard to support our own economy and if there is a choice, and there definitely is now, I will only buy American made. When so many folks are unemployed here in the USA, I think it is really a sin to send this to China. What I have heard and seen, quality is not the same. Bring Vera back to the US only for manufacturing.

I was very disappointed to find some of the Vera bags were being made in China and yes I think the quality is down. I noticed this at Barnes and Noble while looking at the Vera and said they didn't feel the same. I am going to stop buying Vera altogether.
